Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) *
Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are two of the most common disorders found in children, adolescents and adults today. It is often displayed as trouble with completing tasks, paying attention to directions and focusing attention. People with ADD – ADHD are sometimes seen as being “in a fog”. They daydream more often than other people and have difficulty staying in one place or position for very long.
It is also not uncommon for a person with these problems to have few or even no friends and have difficulty with social skills and relationships. There are other important diagnostic factors that can only be determined through testing by a qualified mental health professional. ADD and ADHD are very treatable problems that can be addressed in a variety of ways including, individual therapy, family therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), group therapy, and medications.
Eden Counseling Center utilizes a comprehensive battery of psychological tests to make a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD and then works with the individual, child, parents, and school and others to develop strategies that are designed to meet the specific individual needs of the person with this disorder.
